In February 2024, college freshman Brielle May was planning her trip back to campus after visiting her parent’s house for a long weekend. Six weeks later, she woke up from a coma in the Neuro-Intensive Care Unit at Barrow Neurological Institute, and her life forever changed. Read more ⬇️

Brielle had suffered a full-on tonic-clonic seizure, lost consciousness, and was sent to the ICU. A week later, Brielle was in a coma with no signs of improvement, and her doctors had exhausted all of their options. So, they sent her to Barrow. Thanks to FDA approval for a compassionate-use drug secured through the help of her Barrow team, coupled with countless other treatments, Brielle slowly woke up. While her road to full recovery remains long, Brielle’s story is sure to give hope to anyone who experiences the devastating effects of a neuro-critical condition.
